But the true test. I had my M5 on while watching the video and had some other sounds in the background while working on some code for fun/ work [those lines are blended when you enjoy the actual process] and all of those sounds blended into a slight Charlie Brown adult sound that I could quickly ignore. The programmer’s paradise in a typical office setting. Ever wonder why a typical programmer will spend more than any other sane person on a set of good noise canceling headphones? I’m sorry, I just missed out on the entire sound of the video while solving a complicated issue for work for fun while avoiding my mother-in-law downstairs.
Worth their weight in gold.
No smell test needed

Just compare to Philips Fidelio L3 headphones… those are really good. When I listen even old songs with these I can hear new sounds every time…

My Sony WH-1000XM3 (bought in 2020) was performing fine when suddenly last week the Bluetooth cannot connect to my 2022 Macbook Pro. Yeah, sure that flimsy cable is the same as in these new XM5, but wait till your gadget cannot find your Sony Headphones as a Bluetooth device; then suddenly that cable is valuable. I hope the XM5 does not lose its Bluetooth capability in 2 years! FYI the leatherette on the earcups and headband have survived my average usage.

Not sure how this can be considered a review. It just glazes over stuff ultra fast without comparison. Guess I’ll watch 2-3 more reviews before I decide

You said xm4s instead of xm5 on the weight comment. When you touch swipe, you need to hold on the surface after the swipe for it to either lower or raise volume. If you want to stop, you double tap, and start one tap. If you cup the side, it will pause and you can hear ambient noise. Cup the correct side. Dude, you need to read the instructions. Sorry, it seems you half assed this review.
