I love my XM4s, I’ve had them for 3 years now. But be warned: eventually, they may screech in your ears, to the extent it could damage your hearing. This happened to me.
Earwax/corrosion can build up behind the mesh covering the drivers. It builds up on the metal screws and center noise canceling component in the right headphone, and causes the aforementioned screech. I used a isopropyl alcohol soaked tissue to clean them off, and now the noise canceling is perfect again, and the issue resolved. I wish the app would warn users of the XM4s of this and suggest this maintenance, before allowing the malfunction to happen. I just replaced the ear cup pads and foam lining, so I hope to keep my XM4s for a few more years before upgrading. The headband on the XM5 does look more comfortable.
