I have a XM4 and the main problem with that headphone for me isn’t the padding comfort but like the size of it I think (honestly not sure what exactly). But my ear lobes (the top part) will hurt after wearing it for a while which I do not have on other pairs of headphones. If this headphone has the same issue I probably won’t upgrade.

I don’t understand why you just throw AirPods Max away like that. Watched MKBHD’s video about this and his thought was that AirPods Max paired with an iPhone just sounds better. I don’t understand, it seems that your reviews sometimes are just very subjective. If I want to decide something based on your video it’s tough, I need to watch another 10 min video to get anything informative. Disappointing…

Sony is the company that does everything so that former costumers didn’t stay them til today. Very much so in headphones, but also in everything else. Is it too much to expect that males are the major costumer group for a smartphone with a HDMI port? I don’t think so but Sony makes them so narrow that they are just unusable by design with big male hands. Anyway, the fact how much they look like the Apple ones tells me if so I should buy the Apple ones.

Been using XM2 and XM4 forever and love it. My only issue with Sony headphones is the sound. It doesn’t sound anywhere close to Bose IMO. Only thing that has me going back.

wired iems destroy basically any over ear, price to performance.
I have the cca cra and the moondrop chu. both around 20$ and both are easily better than my hifiman planar over ears (180$)

I always use the song Desert Tornado by the Aristocrats to benchmark headphones. It has a nice mix and enough dynamic range to figure some stuff out.

If they’re anything like the XM4 or XM3, they sound a lot flatter with ANC off. Assume they use the bass to help mask background noise (in particular train/plane/engine etc) better.

If you have EQ enabled on all of the XM series youre not using high bitrate BT audio! So commenting on quality whilst using pleb quality codec isnt a great take.
