Love mostly everything this channel does but when it comes to headphones I cannot come here at all.. consistently poor/biased reviews in my opinion. This was gonna be my “maybe one more time” try and it just reaffirmed all I need to know.

Always hated the U.I. on the Sony headphones. I owned a couple of generations of them, they were really impractical. Touch sensitive controls are pure sh*t. I switched to the Bose QC 35 II and I haven’t looked back since. No bells and whistles, but at least everything on the QC35 is a button and it works flawlessly every time.

After hearing 500$+ IEMs and dabbling in the audiophile space. The xm4s and Bose qc45 that I own just sounds bad without eq. But I still need them for noise cancelling lol

Sony remove the folding speakers prolly because it’s a common breaking point for many fold headsets. And for 400 bucks, it’s prolly a good idea.

Lmao, “normie sound” is the best way I’ve heard to describe Sony’s style. Good, fun, base forward, reasonably balanced, but not detailed or analytical at all. Soundstage is also nonexistent, but they’re noise cancelling so that’s basically a given. Do these still have pretty significant bass bleed in the 100-200hz area? Knocking that down a peg in EQ (annoying that this region has no default band on the Sony app) improves clarity a lot on the XM4. I’d also like to see if the wired passive performance is any better in this version than the XM4 given how poor it is in the previous models. Though, if 3 minutes for 3 hours is legit, that’s basically a moot point.

Big screw-up by Sony – not properly foldable. That carrying case is the size of an effing suitcase. Fortunately you can have the XM4 for (relatively) cheap now, if you need noise cancelling.

Also, stop wearing beanies indoors. Don’t you guys have heaters in Canada?
