But does the XM5 boot with noise cancellation on / is configurable in that sense? This is one of my biggest problems with the XM4s since the noise cancellation gives me panic attacks.(Ones on the airpod pros don’t do that, no idea what’s the difference)

The earcups look as shallow as in the XM4, my very normal to small ears rub against the lining and get very hot and sweaty in temps above 10c, noise cancelling was great but went back to my old Bose Soundlink 2 whenever I don’t need the noise cancelling as they feel way lighter and no rubbing with better sound without fiddling with EQ. Overrated headphones imo.

I have the XM3s and it doesn’t feel that long since they released the XM4s. The biggest issue I have with the XM3s are that the headband really gets itchy on your scalp, to the point it’s uncomfortable after just an hour, and these look like they’re made a much bigger improvement than even the XM4.

I also want to know how the 3.5mm jack works when the headset is turned off, because that’s one thing which is simply broken on the XM3, the mids/bass are completely gone when it’s fully analog while turned off. So I’m curious if they have done something to fix that, as it’s something that would be nice if the battery do go flat, but considering 3 minute charge for 3 hours of playback, is that even needed? Would be nice to know though in a more in-depth review.

I also think that the AirPods Max are stupid and silly, and simply comparing the travel cases makes the XM5 an easy buy. I’m unsure if this was on the XM4, but having its own closed compartment for the cables is seriously so nice, and that it’s a solid form you place them into makes stowing them so much easier. BUT I JUST DON’T USE MY XM3 ENOUGH TO WARRANT BUYING THE XM5 BUT I WANT IT STILL…

are these good build quality because i had wh h910n headphones and i used them normally and in around a year or so of use they snapped at the hinge i never dropped them or stretched them out so i cant bring myself to buy new bluetooth headphones from sony because i fear they might break as well

Curious at what price point mainstream headphones fall under. The link showed these listed at $400, which sounds quite abit above mainstream. Even if I easily had the extra money, I’m not sure I’d be able to appreciate them enough to justify the cost. It is nice that the headphones come with audio cables, since most people using any newer phone can’t use it since the phones don’t have headphone jacks. I wonder if headphones audio cables, at least for music, are going to become like MP3 players, something for the exclusive use of audiophiles. Admittedly for gaming, wired headphones to me have been a better deal than wireless. I know Sony is trying to do something different, but I’m not a big fan of the color.
