This has already been patched by the factories a few months ago for high end chips. Low end chip factories have not yet patched it.

So glad they didn’t go the FTDI route.

FTDI had found that there were a batch of counterfeit chips out there and if you buy one on eBay or AliExpress then it’s going to be fake, let’s be real.

So what did FTDI do? They released a driver that would brick the fake chips.

Sounds fine, right? Well….if you were a hardware vendor and didn’t know you received counterfeit chips then your device just died and that has a lot of unintended consequences.

It’s been reversed and now the device won’t work, but I use Linux so that Windows update driver didn’t hurt me at all.

That sorta thing just makes all the more sense to just buy genuine AirPods from Apple directly themselves either by their official site, one of their many Apple Stores or by their Apple Store app and they’re really not that expensive anyway so but yeah if you want genuine buy directly from the official source
