Once I saw these noice cancelling headphones and they had ear buds and a normal headphone and I was in Westfield (the shopping centre) and I could hear nothing ;-;

How do they work? They work by convincing you through advertisement and info-ads like this one that passive noise isolation is not so good and that noise canceling does not deteriorate sound quality, making you pay for an over-rated ‘feature’. That’s how it works. You want less noise, block your ear cannal with an in-ear earphone.

Crazy. I am standing on a main street in berlin having my bose nc 700 on. I removed the headphones just to hear that my actual envorinment sounded like a starting jet compared to what i thought it was.

Is there any delay that makes this technology inconsistent?
Because when the headphones listen and create a wave, it’s already too late, the crowd sound has already changed. Some of the waves gonna be the same if the overall crowd sound is the same but most of them gonna change even just one millisecond after, with different frequencies so this seems impossible to create a good noise cancellation because of the delay. Am I missing something?
