How do noise cancelling headphones compensate for any latency between picking up external noises and inverting the phase? For it to work the latency would have to be equivalent to the time it takes from sound waves to travel from where it picks up external noise to the speakers, which is variable depending on air pressure and humidity. Are atmospheric conditions assumed?

I don’t understand the hype on noise cancellation. It’s actually dangerous walking the streets and not hearing a bit of the surroundings, you could get hit by a car or failed to hear a warning,etc.

Anyone else thought noise canceling headphones just meant headphones that better fit inside your ear canal, or those big ones that just completely cover your ears thus muffling out the outside sounds?

Bring it peace damaging our eardrums… this tech is extremely damaging to our ears specially in noisier environments because we are introducing another sound wave to get the cancellation but all that power is there bombarding our eardrums and worse we are applying more sound (music) so we are literally destroying our eardrums with a ton of db damaging our hearing
