I use anker’s soundcore q20 and used on planes 4 times this summer. Its pretty good for what it’s worth (50 euros). Definitely clears the deep noises. But doesn’t kill the all noise. Still very good

use separate drivers to cancel the sound not the main music drivers. that would also fix the distortion problem at louder volumes.

Actually, i associate noise-cancelling with sony. Those are now known for the best noise-cancelling, as many autistic people use them. (I personally do use bose, but i can handle more noise. I also generally have the cancelling part off, but even with the cancelling my ears are too good, so i hear everything anyway.)

Constructive interference is the same reason people hear either Loreal and Yanny in that meme. You actually hear both but your brain filters the noise to try and understand it.

If you want to truly remove all but the most penetrative noise and even then have it muffled heavily. Wear well sealed IEM’s of your choosing, then wear a pair of the best ANC headphones on top. Play your music at as loud of a comfortable volume you can through the IEM’s, while having the ANC headphones active but not playing music.
I can drown out a Lawnmower with a pair of cruddy cowin SE7’s and KZ ZS10 PRO’S
