No! def not!.. neat idea though, but hard pass, for 1k it better have wireless and big FOV, could care less about bulk/form factor. If it had it’s own controllers then myb. My hopes are on the Somnium VR1.

For me, this is almost perfect. If they were ever able to add good wireless to something like this. It would be my dream headset. I think the closest thing would be the shiftall meganex.

Underpromising and overdelivering is usually good, but saying 93 degrees fov is going to turn off a lot of people. If there’s a range of fovs give the range imo

– Acquisition costs LH basis, controller & iPhone
– Face scanning restriction for iPhone
– No wireless function as an optional feature like Pico 3 L e.g
– Not beginner friendly
– Niche product software support in the future?
-Resale difficult because adapted to me

Conclusion:
Very advanced device which does not fulfill the wishes of most simers. FOV will only be available from Pimax for the foreseeable future.

One of the hardest parts about showing friends VR is not scaring them off with the amount of setup and hardware for them to dismiss it as a fad. The fact that this thing has a tiny form factor will get their gears turning and start thinking of the future.

-so the whole package is what… $1580 or so if you throw in two base stations and controllers? That doesn’t sound too steep when you consider PC VR headsets tend to expect a $2,000 computer attached to it, or when a 2d, 3440×1440 OLED gaming monitor costs over $1,000. If you have a gaming PC already, this seems like a great contender for the headset to buy.

I’m happy that a company is finally realizing that they need to focus on one aspect of VR instead of trying to do a little bit of everything and none of it great. Never understood why PCVR had to be so big when it is using your computer hardware. The only thing it needs is a screen, and a processor to handle tracking. Though I do wish they are able to get rid of the bay stations and just use cameras on a headset and 1 web cam that most people have. If not, make an app for the phone. They would be unbeatable if they would make it to where you could replace the screen and processor board though. It would basically be timeless.

I would be a lot more excited for this if it was ~$800 with controllers and tracking. This looks like a great headset but for me who doesn’t own index controllers or trackers it’s a nonstarter at a whopping $1400. Let’s come back down to earth here.
