This concept is cool but that custom stuff made the price go from $300 to $1000+ and made is almost completely inaccessible
It can be great device to work in VR
Does the unit require base stations for headset tracking? If not and this could be made compatible with Quest Pro controllers it’d make it more accessible.
I’ll still wait for the valve index 2 (he still says 30 years later).
See I was hoping for like a 300$-400$ starting price but as soon as he started talking about the “custom” face stuff I was like “shit” I love PCVR but like at this point I don’t know if it’s feasible for me to spend 1000$ on a headset to play games that came out years ago.
They should have added IPD at minimum. It’s extremely light and low mechanics, and wouldn’t really have contributed to extra size if designed correctly. Everything else however seems fantastic.
The reason you should take those affiliate link is because its more of a commission for the people who DO buy it BECAUSE OF YOU… ME
Been waiting to get back into vr because of the bulk and figured eventually it’ll slim down. didn’t think it would happen so soon, last vr was the rift s
I’LL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK
i want it
Sounds like an interesting headset. How do you think it would be for working on PCVR – eg excel, emails, reading text etc.
You mentioned the FOV is smaller than quest 2. How about the sweet spot for reading non blurry text? Does that mean it is also smaller? That is my biggest issue with working in VR.
I noticed there seems to be some wireless adapter satellite thing they hook up instead of a full wire sometimes. Does this provide wireless PCVR? If it does, then is there a battery it used? What would the battery life then be?
It is kind of a bummer about no hand tracking and quest just announced they may be upgrading their hand tracking for better virtual keyboard use. That would be a one up on this for work in VR, but there are some ways around that with wearable keyboards for VR.. not as ideal though
Also interesting to know would be how confortable it is when playing motion intense games where you have to move around quickly, because it looks a bit like it would fall of easily, or how the facial interface reacts to sweat
hahaha this guy is selling his soul since we know clones are going to be coming since this person is going to be a clone hahahahaha
Love this thing. Though personally eye tracking and face tracking is a must have. Can see people designing 3d print mounts for fave tracking for this shortly into its availability xD
I’ve been using a Rift S for the last 2 years, waiting for “The One” to replace it. I think I have found my Neo.
I knew it was a good idea to keep my valve index this is exactly what I’ve been waiting for! I have a HP reverb G2 and the valve index I love how I can just jump into the valve index but knowing the visual capabilities of other headsets like the G2, but the headache to setup with Valve’s base stations and knuckle controllers, I deal with what now feels a little outdated visuals from the Index headset and has left me not using it as often.
Excited to do another run on HL:ALYX 😈
your title is like those ‘finally it’s here’ spam bots lmao
Does someone know where i can buy the tshirt he is wearing at 11:53?
Finally, a worthy successor to the OG Vive, which I still prefer even to this day.
One thing I wonder is why there’s isn’t a standalone vr headset that is bike helmet shaped, instead of all the weight be in front of your face and compress on your forehead by a strap not use the helmet formfactor to distribute that weight, and possibly add more processor, more tracking and more baterry without causing neckpain?
