At $1,000 dollars, no audio, no controllers included and no resell value or ability to share with others makes this thing in my opinion DOA. This thing will flop. For the same price + the extras needed you could get a Quest Pro with far superior FOV, built in Audio, standalone capabilities (if you want) and more. I could see value around $600 mark but $1000 bucks? I mean the tracking system and controllers is at least another $400-$500
My only issue is the fov. Other than that even the cord for it looks lighter than the one for the index which might make it more comfortable for the people who sleep in vr regularly
I need this. Only thing i dislike is not having face & eye tracking. I will add vive face tracking to it. Guess I really don’t have to have eye tracking
too small.
Aww they’re cute like FPV googles for flying drones 😀
If only this could be wireless
micro led oled? wat? do they just mean amoled?
In every possible sense of the term, HELL YEA
I feel like the only thing that’s gonna get me off Quest 2 is another wireless headset. I like to play in the garage while I smoke cigarettes.
13:35 I had to listen to that a couple times 😀 “MY OMEGAS”!
if only i get a penny when any vr youtuber says im replacing my headset to a new headset
Love the new closing dance xD
Respect for keeping this secret
If it had inside out tracking, I would be all for this. But, spending a grand on something like this that also requires a set of base stations, it’s just too much. But damn. That fidelity and stuff. It’s almost worth it just for those displays.
Why can’t Quest take the same concept but with a wearable battery pack and hardware that you strap to you in order to make the headset much smaller.
Love what this company has done and I feel very confident that in the very near future we will have stand alone headsets that are small like this in the video.
Great video as always, I do love your content 👊🏽
So cool they are doing this. I would totally consider it, even though I don’t have base stations. Maybe they could get a good bundle price going with valve or something.
They took everything out of a headset and made it 1000$ ! crazy
if only the refresh rate was higher
because of the face scan, the devs probably know what thrills face looks like better than most viewers
Ok, BigScreen, I’ve heard you, but:
1) Not wireless, even as an option with a premium battery head strap or something
2) Requires base stations
3) Cant give to another person with a significantly different IPD
All of these features, just for the small form factor?
I see why one could potentially be excited about it, but this is so much not for me (and a lot of other people). I feel like this will be a pretty niche thing. The bad part is, it’s already inside of a niche (exclusively pcvr, requires a vr-ready pc) that is inside of niche (VR in general, it’s not like VR devices are like smartphones, and almost everyone, at least in the developed world, but actually even in developing countries, already owns one).
I feel like this is just another headset that pushes one parameter to the limit (in this case it’s size/weight), we saw pimax do the same with the FOV, etc. The truth is, it’s the balanced headsets that take over the market or at least take on some significant share of it (Quest 2 did push the “price” parameter, but I feel like they just barely got any profits from headset sales, I don’t feel like they actually cut down on quality for that). Headsets that are state-of-the-art in one field, but suck in too many other aspects, IMHO are doomed market-wise. I’m happy they exist (for our entertainment), but I feel like what’s going on is there is a lot of potential (brains / monetary investment) wasted that could alternatively make some good competition for Meta and make the vr market more dispersed and healthy.
