For $1000 i was considering it as thats only around £820 (around index pricing), but go to the site and its £1149 before even calculating shipping. seems off to me! i understand most tech pricing if it says $1000 usually the UK ends up paying £1000 but this price “correction” is too far imo.
looks cool but..yeah why not just make a little biger but with apd adjustment and not custom made mask…
If you are someone who wears glasses, more than likely your prescription changes on a yearly basis. What I’d want to know from Bigscreen is if they plan on providing swappable lenses in different prescriptions? If not, then the headset would become a paperweight to me within a year.
holy the size different from the quest 2 to the beyond
I guess it will be my next headset. But can I use it for simracing? I already have performance problems with Simracing (mid settings, Reverb G2, RTX3090).
no ipd adjustment is weird to me so when the foam sculpted fo your face gets out of alignment after a year of use you have to go and buy new one because you cant use the headset due to being blurry? also what about the teens that are stil growing do you need to buy new foam cause in a years time theit face changed a bit. Overengineering things should be an additinioal opion not the default
Even if a bit pricey. I think this might finally be the headset i upgrade to from my original oculus rift :O …i just need…base stations…and controllers that use them xD
holy ready player one. ITS ALMOST HEREEEEEEEEEEEEEE
To think, even if it’s a niche, that some VR headsets can finally be this small…
I also always wondered why PC-VR headsets had to be this big even tho it’s the PC that do the heavy-lifting performance-wise. ^^”
Can’t wait until they can make a wider FoV version of this! Just don’t want to downgrade FoV at this point if I can possibly avoid doing so.
One day I hope base stations can be optionally bundled with headsets. I know just separate it costs a lot but as the industry is allowed to grow, maybe it’s possible. Or maybe we won’t even need them in the future
Really hoping there will be a modding community around this and about making more generic face gaskets so that you can share it with friends even if they don’t get the benefit of it being perfectly custom made for them. Cause yes this sounds absolutely awesome and makes me tempted to get it simply to experience it, but most of the time i use VR is with friends and we pass around the headset with Beat Saber in party mode or play new games together by taking turns with the levels cause it’s just such a cool social experience. It would feel weird and almost douchey if i was the only one to use the “good” headset. So, yeah. I might get it, and see if my 3D Printer can do things here… and i hope i’m not going to be the only one looking into that 🙂
If something as small as this can go full mainstream, i will be absolutely overjoyed!
My facial structure is a *tad* bit off to where i need my inded on a big tighter than usual without it wobbling too much, so it gets very heavy on my face very quickly, if we can cut down that weight by almost 8x times, that is amazing
I love the form factor, but:
> Price is expensive. Would’ve been a great price if it was all-in, but you still need controllers and base stations, adding up to an easy extra $1000 if you don’t have them already (also need an iPhone or know someone with an iPhone as well to for the mold).
> Low FoV. It makes sense for something of that size, but… not for something of that price.
> No wireless. Personally, I’d like a wireless experience. And no, external battery tied to the hip or some other body part is not my idea of wireless PC VR.
Seems like a good upgrade for people who already have a lighthouse tracking setup and controllers, though you’d still be trading in some FoV. But not for those who don’t already have an expensive VR setup to begin with. What really should’ve been there, IMO:
> They could’ve added an external battery for wireless PC VR. Heck, they could even put the wireless hardware required on the optional part you can remove.
> They also could’ve added 2 controllers with basic 6 dof functionality.
Anyhow, this just represents one of the many problems with current PC VR. It’s too expensive to get into and too much of a hassle. It’s kinda stupid how we’ve gone from a few brands trying ot make PC VR more mainstream…. into almost every brand heading into a niche of superexpensive and niche PC VR. It’s kinda sad that the Pico 4, Quest 2 and HP Reverb 2 are still the best and most affordable options for PC VR that don’t require someone to rob a bank.
Will you ever review a vr headset that isn’t a quest and doesn’t cost more than my pc?
I like it, the idea and concept as well as the specs seem amazing and the price for what is almost the next step in VR handwear and the fact that it is also custom made for you seems great!
I don’t even think I would want to resell such a headset as I would hold on to it because it’s such a interesting headset
I wear a hat with my Quest 2, it absolutely makes it more comfortable.
Fuck, aways some way of fucking ya. Reduced resale value and can’t take turn with friends when I’m over a foot taller than anyone I know.
You prolly not filled with people visting anyway, as you literally are a fookin’ youtube creator. A big part of the success of quest 2 WAS the ability to easily share and take turns ect ect. Hard pass for me, and just about anyone I know.
Imagine using wires when Y gig exists
