They missed the opportunity to call it the big screen small screen ):
the more you talk about what it doesn’t have the less i like it especially for 1000+
Does it work with og 1.0 htc vive base stations?
I don’t want controllers anyways, I’d rather build some VR gloves with a set of single board computers.
It’s almost the same size as the Quest 3. It’s a minor drop in size for ZERO self tracking, no mobile game play, no wireless, no controllers, no controller tracking. It’s a long line of NO’s for OLED displays and a tiny drop in size/weight.
Very exciting actually, although still bit too pricey and I do not have an iphone
I was waiting for the reason I hadn’t gotten the varjo aero yet and here it is
after experimenting with phone VR i got a new in box blue asus WMR to “tide me over” in 2020. and upgraded too a used vive i got as a christmas present from my boss in 2021, handing the WMR to a friend for cheap. (upgraded to index controllers tho. fuck wands) and ive been riding on this waiting for the headset thats “just around the corner” for awhile now. i think this might be that headset for me… it looks like exactly what i want. small, comfortable, PCVR. its expensive but i hold on to tech for a long time. I’m willing to spend that bit of extra to keep from upgrading for a while, failing that i will buy older and cheaper to tide over. im concerned with the no IPD adjustment but i think im still game. ty for helping consult this to be the best headset it can be thrill. also on the note of the mic. the vive mic is so shit and buggy i just got a $50 shure lapel mic and extenders and just ran it with the other wire to my PC to have a good PCVR mic. thanks for being firm on that one
I’m here for this. Incredible, this might be the first one I can really use comfortably.
And insane content quality.
If this were about 300-400 I would insta buy it
I don’t need my kidneys, right 🙂. I want it.
Holy shit, I really hope it will be super affordable. Really looking forward to this one!
Specs are def spicy but like… that headset doesn’t look like it costs that much. It looks so uhhhhh weirdly cheap
6:25 Q: “How are you going to resell something made just for you” A: Replacement foam face gaskets are already listed on the Bigscreen Shop.
I would be _shocked_ if there were no way to change the IPD. Note: not “adjust”, we know it’s not adjustable…I mean _change_ in an inconvenient manner, like Pimax and those inconvenient “Wide But Blurry FOV Or Narrow FOV But Crisp” swappable lenses…
I don’t share my headset often but I have had pretty much everyone in my life try it out at some point and my girlfriend hosts annual Halloween parties, where I’m tasked with selecting an on-theme VR game for people to play. So, I’d definitely prefer to have some adjustability.
Doesn’t this also mean people can’t test drive it in stores? I mean, it’s one thing to use a headset that isn’t well fitted to your face but having the wrong IPD is sickening.
These are the types of breakthroughs I want to see in VR. Big niche items that pay for the research and move the needle further into the green zone of awesome for all!
I’m feeling good I canceled that PlayStation VR2 preorder…
Hi😊
I’m gonna save up so I can buy this. I really want it, if it takes a month or two for me to buy it, then so be it, its gonna be worth it from the way your describing it. Honestly sounds like heaven for me since I’m not bothered about face tracking, and if I do get a little bothered, I’ll jus buy the mouth tracker. I’m super hyped now!!!
ummm, just watched sadlyitsbradly’s take on this. I don’t remember you mentioning this but bradly says the “custom” facial interface can ONLY be done using an iphone. Basically ONLY iphone users will be able to get this. is that accurate? Cause that’s a MASSIVE downside and basically gives android users the big o’ middle finger lol. I was struggling with this one as I love those lenses and the uber small form factor but REALLY don’t like the FOV but this basically (if true) kills it for me and basically kills it for a GREAT MANY people who might want this but aren’t iphone users. There are a LOT of us…….
No matter your position on wanting this headset for yourself, this is an absolutely massive stride for the VR industry.
I feel the timescale estimate for such a compact and eventually portable headset becoming the norm just lept from decades away at least to a decade away at most.
Fantastic news! Good job to the folks in Bigscreen.
