I wanna cop one, but it’s so expensive
Jesus Christ! it might as well not exist at all. Yeah really exciting news that someone in the world getting a mega luxury version of consumer tech, someday in the near future, so mind-blowing!
i would buy this if it was inside-out tracked. but if it isn’t it’s going to be a hard sell
Custom fit. Sounds spensive and a silly business model component.
I love this…… if only I wasn’t constrained by budget….
you sound like you’re underwater
Does it work with htc vive base stations and controllers? That would be the deciding factor for me
My only problem here is the price.
How in the hell is it’s 999$?
It doesn’t have controllers, doesn’t have cameras for tracking, it doesn’t need shit like the quest does. It’s extraordinarily light compared to any other headset. Sure it’s custom fit for face but for 999$? That’s got to be a joke. An index is the same thing but with actual controllers and better resolution/fps.
I could also get the quest 2 and have everything I need for VR just for 300$. Sure those headsets do have a couple of issues but if the big screen headset was supposed to be the one that’s the smallest and lightest then how is it so expensive?
This looks sickkkk
Holy shit.
as far as reselling – they could make the app capable of outputting the same 3d file as downloadable and we could 3d print a face pad – just a little shorter to allow some padding over the plastic. It would be heavier but at least better than using someone elses face. The lensing would be something different. I’m far sighted myself and that has always been a concern with VR in general.
This thing feels like a heavy-duty upgrade, like what the quest pro controllers feel like using a quest 2. A little ridiculous but at the same time it does its role very, very well.
Oh yeah!! Lets gooo. Been waiting on a thing like this!
imo this will crash and burn. It’s a niche of a niche market. Just not going to be popular enough for consumers due to the custom nature of the IPD/Lenses. No family will ever buy this because you can’t share between family members and reselling will pretty much be non-existant. This is what makes it a niche of a niche market and it will fail as a result. Honestly, it’s also really a step back in VR because it has none of the modern features to make VR better (other than using micro led) such as inside/out tracking, foveated rendering, eye tracking, face tracking and etc. Removing all those features just in the name of making the smallest VR headset is just not worth it for consumers.
Kind of want… but still want eye tracking in it…
“It just slots right into what I normally use” made me think of modularity potential of the concept, maybe some brand in some future iteration could have that tiny PCVR but also a mobile pc dock to plug into, making it a quest-like
i think this headset is a perfect prosumer solution for wired pc vr… and i think ill get one as soon as it gets out in the eu
I can understand the concern around resellability, but based on the marketing, if you are an android user, your not getting the headset even if you wanted one
I was pretty excited until you mentioned the price. You don’t even get the controllers for paying a grand?! That’s just ridiculous! It’s sad because this think looked really cool.
If I can somehow pair my quest pro controllers with this headset…I’m sold. I’ve already got baystations and trackers I just don’t own knuckles.
