FINALLY! The time has come to lay my Index to rest. RIP ol friend 🙏
Love the motivation but you should take the money‼️
or to a phone, not only to a pc
you had me at “measures your face shape”
where can i invest
I’m glad to see a smaller VR headset, it seems like a natural progression of improvement in tech. I love my Quest 2 but I have to put a battery in the back to balance out the weight because it’s too front heavy in my opinion.
brother take the bag, shill it harder, become a stakeholder
Couldn’t the fine tuning of the lense and face shape be thrown of if your eyesight deteriates?
nobody has ever wanted to wear my stinky headset anyway
Seems like Big screen had one job. And they didn’t blow it! This is what the headsets of VR 3.0 will look like. In about 5 years. If you want it now, you gotta pay and have a few early adopter downsides. But personally, yeah, I’ll fuk with this!
bro thats like massive tf 😭😭😭
Here’s What I think. A few years ago I bought some Shure SE846 in ear headphones. best $1000 I ever spent. I don’t share my headphones with anyone bc that would be kind of gross, I just tell whoever asks that they sound amazing! If I buy this VR headset, the same rule will apply. I will not share this headset, I’ll just tell them its is amazing! In other words, when it comes to the good stuff, I don’t like sharing. Get your own.
Why can’t they make a hybrid version of a wireless standalone VR just as tiny? Put the OLEDs on the face with inside out tracking, but the GPU and battery on a belt worn pack connected with a usbc cable. Is is that hard?
The lenses being magnetic and custom face part looking to be removable as well means you could definitely have alternate sets for other people if you’re sharing with your partner etc which is a plus even though it does mean more $$. Kids growing and needing new sets could be a problem. The only thing for me is the base station requirement. If this leads the way to a future model either from them or somewhere else in this style with inside out tracking (I don’t care about wireless), then I would seriously consider purchasing it! In the meantime, year 2 of waiting for the right headset to release so I can jump in to VR lol, given the expense it needs to be a long-term investment that isn’t already outdated or lacking in some major way like pretty much every headset available right now.
Man if this thing had wireless pc and someway to have a battery in the pocket, controllers and sensors, it would be perfect. But since it doesn’t then vive Xr elite is still my preferred for 2023. And yah I think I just described vive Xr elite 😂.
I would be a little scared of how this headset gets supported long run.
The price being mostly due to the custom facial interface and lenses is kind of a let down. I don’t want this headset to do bad, but I have a quest 2 with an upgraded strap, comfortable VRcover interface, and prescription lenses and it for sure didn’t cost me $1000. Just waiting to see if those Quest 3 3D printed models of the leaked blueprints are accurate. Yeah yeah this one isn’t for me I know, but I hope they can continue the improve their design over the years and not be DOA. Lightweight systems with great displays like this need to thrive!
way too expensive
Me who picked up a varjo aero over a month ago:
My collection grows even greater.
For real though I was under the impression the PC VR enthusiast headsets were gonna die out to professional/deep prosumer stuff and nothing really catered towards the gaming crowd.
I am definitely considering this, I’ve shelved my index about a year ago (it’s still fantastic, but I definitely fall under the resolution >>>>>>> refresh rate crowd)
OLED makes a huge difference at this res, I feel like it’ll still be a much nicer experience than the aero with oled+slighly lower res screen simply due to how much nicer oled screens are
fwiw the aero’s LED screen is plenty great aswell – I just miss the simplicity of the index where it was just plug and play. Been using the VP2, the QuestPro+airlink, and the aero and they all have extra steps I have to take just to hop in VR. Interestingly of those 3 the aero is the easiest to just jump into though – pretty hassle-free aside from launching steamvr through their app and forcing it to switch to steam games from their workspace.
I love the philosophy underpromise and overdeliver, I actually do the same when giving a time that I’ll do something or be somewhere.
After having vive headsets for years… never going back to base stations again… Can’t wait until there is an inside out headtracking version of this.
I love this video. It’s so nice to hear some good news about VR after the repeated disappointments lately. This is probably the most excited I’ve seen you get about a VR product. Super cool that you were able to give them input on the production as well! I can’t wait till this form factor comes to non-Index migrants in a way that makes more financial sense.
