dang, this looks like the the end of console generation kind of product, people figuring out all the ways to minmax around the limitations of a technology and produce amazing results.
Eye/face tracking is very important for the next wave of hardware IMO. it frees up so much computation power while also enabling next level experiences, both social and gaming ones.
Imagine if this could plug into the steam deck!
Does it mean that I can’t use this device with other friends or family members? It’s interesting, but I’m also worried.
This is amazing, I can’t wait to get one. I have been using a Vive pro with a gear VR lens mod to get that clear glass picture and it looks amazing but to use something that was created for that full clear image is going to be something that’s on a whole different level and I can’t wait to experience that
Honestly from everything I’ve seen I’ve definitely not interested. Small form factor is cool but all the removed features make it not worth it from my perspective.
Sounds exactly like what im looking for. i do however have an issue with their app based on initial view of the site. They require you to have an Iphone, no if ands, or buts about it.
“²An Apple iPhone XR or newer is required for the 3D Face Scan. Bigscreen Beyond is manufactured based on this 3D Face Scan, and cannot be manufactured without it. If you do not own an Apple iPhone XR, you can complete your 3D Face Scan by borrowing a friend’s iPhone or using an iPhone at an Apple Store. No app install is required, as the app loads directly through the Safari browser on iOS.”
The important part of the above is “Cannot be manufactured without it” meaning if you dont have access to an iphone your screwed from the get go.
I do not have an iphone, none of my friends have iphone. the nearest apple store is 4 hours away. sooo. they really need to get on the android market or this could be a bad start before its even out of the gate, not everyone has access to an iphone.
Regarding the other people using your headset at 6:00, how many times, have they yes used it, but for longer than maybe 5 – 10 minutes at most, It just makes sense in my book for them to keep doing their way, I totally want to get one of those LOL! I’m guessing once we get to almost weightless infinite battery, standalone headsets we will totally be in the “Future”
Once a product of this size and type reaches $2-300 (and doesn’t require an iPhone to order) it would start to become viable. This precludes any household with more than one VR user so no one with a family, roomates or even just interested friends would want to buy it. I think its too ahead of its time. Once VR becomes ubiquitous enough that everyone owns a VR interface of some kind in the way we all own a smartphone (like what Meta was pushing for), custom individualized headsets like this will make sense. Until then, this is just a neat, expensive concept.
IT’s MY HEADSET>! IT WAS MADE FOR ME!<@< ITS CALLING ME! you're a good salesman btw
They can keep it👎🏽
Not being able to share it is a dealbreaker for me. I often share my headset with my nephew when he comes over and having one he can’t use doesn’t sit well with me. I still wish big picture success for it’s product.
as expensive as this gets for someone who doesn’t own base stations or controllers for it, this still sounds like one of the best upgrade options for me. I’ve been using already old odyssey+ for last couple of years on and off and don’t really care about standalone or wireless as long as long enough cables are possible to be used.
Had hopes for pico as upgrade path, but once all the reviews started stating that to get good clear image for pcvr something like 4090 is needed for godlike, plus router upgrade, it started to look like 2.5k+ for upgrade and it didn’t feel like it would be worth it
I got myself a Quest Pro a month ago, and wonder if you can make an opinion on the lenses and more importantly the displays between these two.
3:53 – There’s Phia!
they want you to send them your FACE???
ahah.. you guys must be reaaally stupid to give your face (your IDENTITY) to some random company to keep and do with as they please. No thanks! privacy >>>>>>>>> practicality.
this isnt some government ID shit..
This is what I want for vr and what I’ve been wanting for years. Now to wait for either other companies to do the same but cheaper, or for it to get cheaper. I’m getting closer to finally pulling the trigger getting into vr, but still not yet.
When VR can be as comfortable as glasses I’m sure it’ll draw in more people.
Please say the controllers are more than the bare minimum we get with most controllers. 8 buttons is not enough.
This isn’t for me. I was an early adopter of full face tracking with Vive Pro Eye and I’m not moving forward without that functionality, not to mention I’m fully wireless with it. Vive Pro Eye is my ride or die right now.
Going to suspend my interest to see if the hype is worth it.
