Honestly I feel like most people would rather it just not be custom. Having the option would be nice, but why didn’t they just make it have ipd adjustment and have a basic form to your face? That would let them make it faster and much cheaper.
Interesting, can’t wait for the full review
I reallly want this. But I don’t like cables, not at all. The cable gives the power and the connection. So they can’t exchange it. I think it should have air link tech and a powerbank strap would be perfect. Yeah it would be a little bigger. But the experience is a lot better
Im almost positive this type of headset is what companies like Meta are aiming for. On some level The Zuck probably knows that current headsets are too bulky and intimidating for casual users, and he’s either faithful that VR Headset technology will get more consumer-friendly, or very stupid (or both!). The Beyond looks like an amazing prototype for what to expect for consumer models in hopefully just a few years from now. And if a company wants to make a standalone headset this size, while that might not be possible right now, I’m sure that engineers will come up with clever solutions to make it work. For me personally, $1000 is way too steep, but I’m also at a point where even at $500 this would be too expensive for me. Like you said, this looks like a great option for enthusiasts, but for now I’m just impressed with where the technology currently is and where it’s headed.
Thanks dude, thanks for doing what you doing. You help a lot of people to keep up with tech
Thanks for pushing for good microphones. This headset would be out of balance if we attached a Modmic 🤣 Sadly I don’t see Sweden as a delivery option, so I’ll look forward to reviews for now.
Ayy, I also am working on face and eye on index, been backburnered for a while tho
everything about this is an absolute yes for me but the price is a bit of a miss for me id rather see 7 or even $800 given i still need to have controllers and base stations. id also like to know how much of the onboard technology in most bulky headsets was either removed of compacted. this would be insanely good for vr in sim games like racing and flight games and fantastic for long and intense vr sessions and i think from the sounds of it could replace so many peoples current vr setups.
Well shit, the orders in:)
Interesting. This could actually be more compelling for productivity and have multiple monitors (as big as you want in any layout you want, etc.). But then again, the need for base stations and controllers (no way hand tracking would work this way), that could be difficult. Hm, not sure. Definitely a niche, but I’d love to try it.
What’s the song at the start? Massive rollers
This sounds like a perfect replacement for my ~5 year old HTC Vive that’s falling apart.
If they could somehow make it with room tracking and wireless PCVR with a USB-C for a detachable battery-pack so you could choose your own and a minijack, I’d throw my money at it. I don’t need the standalone stuff, I just want PCVR. But I want wireless. And can’t be bothered with tracking-stations that’ll be outdated in a few years anyway.
Or someone else do it. idk, but that’s what me and my kids like.. Pico 4 with Virtual Desktop.
I think this idea of it being custom to each person makes sense. In the demo that they did with Tested, it really pointed out to me how people who wear glasses already deal with this. It has lenses! Lenses are custom! Meta and other companies really want to sell vr headsets just like they are smartphones. A useful, resell-able, versatile, do everything device, but personally I thinks that just won’t be their fate. Maybe this headset will pave the way for the best of what vr can actually accomplish.
The Lynx R1 or the Big Screen Beyond will most likely replace my Index, all these headsets so many options! 😀
why do you always wear a cuck muzzle?
The shit going on is way worse than Chernobyl. At least in Chernobyl they evacuated everyone involved and took care of them. Not too many died. In the US the government is actively trying to cover it up and keep people in the area. Absolutely insane
I’ve been dying for a Steam VR tracked headset to replace my Reverb G2, and this might be it.
AHHH I WISH I HAD MONEY
THE HEADSET LOOKS SICK
I’m gonna have to try save up for this it seems perfect for me this is all I’ve wanted a amazing small lightweight and comfortable headset
