At 9 minutes phia’s just standing in the back bored. Lol. I wonder how long you guys were there. I feel bad.
So what I’m getting is that this headset is what you get when you put all your skill points in one stat
this headset is an L. I’m sad because the form factor is amazing, and I’m sure the screens look great, but everything else is too bad for 999$. people say 90hz is ok, but I say it is not. I like high refresh rate on my flatpanel monitors, and in VR the stuttery feel of anything below 120 is very noticeable. the quest 2’s FOV is one of its (if not the) biggest downsides, and you can’t ask a grand for a headset that isn’t standalone and doesn’t include controllers but has the same shitty FOV. Finally another important point: while it’s true that these headsets are marketed towards people with beefy PC’s, 5k is still a LOT of pixels to push smoothly through every game, and I would bet that even a 3090 could struggle in some situations. Companies need to start putting eye tracking in these things, and foveated rendering needs to be more widely adopted, otherwise VR will just get more and more exclusive instead of being more widely accessible.
The fact that their face scan REQUIRES an iPhone (as of what they currently have on their website) is a pretty big letdown. As someone who doesn’t own one and am not really close to anybody that does, I wouldn’t be able to order this unless I bought a used iPhone just for the camera. It’s a very interesting sounding product and I’d be on board if not for that one not exactly small hurdle.
early
4:42 in, I need to ask since I wear glasses. It’s cool that you need to go through some things to get custom vr, but we have to change our prescription every year so….am I going to have to buy one these things every year or is there another option…? love your content btw edit…6:29 in…this makes things worse for us glass wearers
hope your prescription doesn’t shift over time :p
Not sure how I feel about needing a prescription of my eyes. What if I haven’t gone to an eye doctor in years? Am I screwed out of the headset?
What if you have lazy eye? …So many “what if(s)” with this.
BIGscreen: make SMALL headset
im 100% down to drop some serious money on this. Im 100% thrilled, im actually excited for vr again
1000$ 🤔
I just hope they can build them for wider IPDs, becaus I have multiple friends with FOVs over 75mm and there’s nothing put there they can comfortable use, even after all these years
Buying it!!. I am not a preorder person . I am patient as hell and will wait till it comes out. And will use my Bonus to get it
I wonder how long the time it’ll take for them to make the custom face make considering at least tens of thousands of ppl will buy this.
Great, but the wire ruins it.
the entire headset weighs less than 1 index controller.
No!!! I just bought Pico 4 to replace my quest2 😭
My dream setup is this form factor, + face tracking and wireless. (I have the latter 2 with my vive pro eye+wireless adapter, but that setup is HEAVY and not comfortable, and the wireless is easy to occlude.)
Happy to see someone start pushing in this hardware direction!
YES
As a longtime VR veteran it is intriguing. Excellent form factor, nothing said about audio speakers and I absolutely hate the quests fov, love how my index forms around my entire eye area as well, tethered isn’t a deal killer but $1000. for panels and resolution alone well that’s wayyy too steep but for a hand full of enthusiast or collectors. These are still early days and it’s exciting to see new, inventive ways to do VR, my take is we still don’t have anything that has it all. An hmd with those pants and resolution, index audio speakers and mic, FOV is still a pillar of immersivenes in VR but for the price and limited features, well that cuts out the vast VR public as well as most of us veteran users. Excellent way to keep the tech interesting for those who have that kind of disposable cash.
