I’ve been using my HTC Vive since before the quest came out. I just haven’t upgraded yet because I felt like once I get something it’ll be replaced with something newer soon after. But this looks incredibly promising and sounds like it’ll outlive many headsets to come.
Tbis is what i been waiting for, time to sell a bunch of sheeet lmaoooo
Awesome video
What’s the Refresh rate?
Does it work with Base stations v1?
How does any of this justify the price tag fr, i get vr i don’t get this
Man, i dont know if im asking for too much anymore. I just want FOV and refresh rate parity with my Index, even base stations are fine. Give face and eye tracking. I would pay for that. Better resolution and a better form factor would be icing on the cake at that point.
oh wow a smaller headset, the price must be cheaper right?
“yeah it’s $900”
oh… yeah cheaper…
This would be perfect if it had a wireless PCVR mode and a belt/hip mounted battery pack.
Pair it with a good body/hand tracking solution and you have everything you need in a maximum comfort package.
Wow, this looks very interesting and fits some of my needs and uses in VR perfectly. I am primarily a PCVR user and watch all my media in VR and this looks like it would be perfect for that . I do hate that I have to use base stations with it (I also have an Index) and the price is a bit steep
If they don’t get in touch with tobii for that foveated rendering in the second gen I’m gonna cry T_T 5120×2560 is no joke even at the relatively low refresh of 90hz.
I’m fucking hyped for this… Really looking forward to your review and Ty’s through the lens series of it.
I didn’t see you mention the refresh rate though which is strange
I’ve been on the Quest 2 since it’s launch as my first VR headset. Got base stations and full HTC FBT about 6 months later and have been waiting for a dedicated PCVR upgrade ever since. This could be it even if I need to buy knuckles, though am gonna have to figure out somewhere I can grab an iphone for the face scan…
Now that meta is killing echo arena, I’m looking for new headsets. Might’ve just found it
This sounds like it’s exactly what I’ve been waiting for! Sufficient cash has been saved & reserved for this device. Please BigScreen, bring this Beyond to market asap, I’ll be a Day-1 or -2 order (depending on my work schedule ATM).
I’ve been a long-term Rift/Quest2/Reverb G2 owner and user so now I gotta see about getting those base stations…
I tried VR at an arcade years ago but I’ve been holding off on getting a personal VR headset both for financial reasons but also wanting the technology to mature a bit. While this one is certainly interesting I don’t think I’ll be getting it as it seems too much of a prototype. I do like the technology though.
One thing that needs to improve is that 3D printing technology needs to get better for consumer electronics but it’s getting there. Right now I think it’s more for tinkering and prototyping but in 5-10 years it’ll probably be at the general consumer electronics level and even start beating traditional manufacturing. Because of that I hope people do support this company for their vision of using 3D printing for VR for a more custom experience. Who knows, maybe they’ll do a collab with HTC Vive or Valve or be bought by them.
I do think I’ll finally get a headset though. I watched the presentation on the VIVE XR Elite and it’s exactly what I want. I still consider it to be at the Playstation 1 and Gameboy Color stage in terms of where the technology can go but it’s good enough for me.
So there’s a lot I really like about this. I’m not terribly interested in standalone VR most of the time so something that really takes advantage of being PC-connected is great. That said, there are a couple sticking points where I’m concerned.
Speakers are a big selling point for me. It’s been hard to find a headset that can match the Index in terms of audio immersion, especially without compromising big in other ways. Include some good off-ear speakers and I’d definitely be considering it. Also add in eye tracking for both foveated rendering and (for my personal interests) performance capture, and I’d be gunning for this immediately. Even making those just some kind of modular OPTIONS to add on would have me looking at this more seriously.
BHMD(Bespoke HMD)
this is promising ouo
It might be niche, but its also the blue print. It really hit home when you sat this inside the Quest 2 face plate. This is exciting for VR, but as someone who wont buy this, Im more excited for BigScreens next headset after this, seeing them refining this to hopefully industry standard someday while meeting all the VR peaks like Tracking, Control methods, etc.
I love my index I think its worth $1000 for the full kit but this headset is what I’ve been waiting for but the price is too high for the headset by its self If they can drop the price down to $800 then it I might consider it.
It kinda bugs me that I’ll have to probably use my AirPods 2 instead of the Index’s floating headphones, but seeing how small and light it is, and with the gymnastics I do in VR, and with the Mic being good (at least from what you’re saying, I trust your opinion) This more then definitely will be my next headset.
