So… This is basically the Raising Canes of VR headsets.
It’s a niche. It only serves one dish. But it’s so good at that one thing that it’s successful.
Can’t wait for this, now that I’ve seen it. Hopefully face/eye tracking will come to it naturally sometime in the future (the sooner the better!). Looks like I’ll have to save up some spare cash (again…!)
OLED is why I still prefer my OG vive over the Index.
if the field of view was better and it was wireless id JUMP on it but i guess ill have to wait even more.
Exciting to me, for sure. If a non lighthouse based controller was as good as the knuckles, I might not be so keen, but yeah, pretty cool.
as a person whos had glasses since 3rd grade and hates wearing them while doing vr, i LOVE the idea that they make a perscription lens.
Would be onboard if there was wireless attachment, just can’t go back to wired
God, this is just genuinely so awesome and exciting, having the opportunity to beta test this thing must’ve been cool as hell, I hope i can scrape together some money to get one of these sometime fr
face scan is a deal breaker for me i hate touch screen phones and refuse to get 1
i dont have any problem letting my face be scanned but i dont own a device that can nore do i plan on getting a device that can
Paired with a Steamdeck or even a VR laptop in a backpack and still be mobile untethered, just a different weight distribution.
Head says want, pocket says ouch!
Not a shareable headset? Come on. VR parties with Index are a thing. Put an IPD adjustment on it and we’re talking. This is going to seriously hurt sales of this product.
thrill see if they could make a version with insideout tracking and still work with the index controllers and can still be tracked by lighthouses because i want a version like that with face tracking being the same price as the quest pro or maybe a bit more and see if they could make a standalone modular for it if they make a insideout tracked one
Ok just thinking, we NEED to have an actual VR platform for All-in-2 on Android. Just imagine plugging that into your phone and watching a movie
This would be perfect for me as im disabled and have very bad health issues. Having weight on my head causes me to have huge migraines to the point of passing out, making it impossible for me to play any of the other vrs. That said, i live in a poor family where we can varely afford food half the time, so the price is a problem for me :((
i need 3 things from the vr headset of my dreams: 1. Little bit more field of view than i have in real life just to make sure i never even catch a glimpse of realities edge. 2. High enough resolution so i don’t see any pixels. 3. No screendoor effect. 4. HDR 10 levels of contrast and last but not least, 5. 300€. I know that was THE deffenition of a pipe dream right now, and maybe in 20 years, when VR becomes an every day item, but i have patience xD
Love it! But the price is a huge nope.
Mmmm I was behind this until I heard the price… how is this meant to encourage people to get into VR when you’re essentially asking them to fork over so much. If I were going to get into VR and I heard that this was the new hype thing I’d probably end up with the PS4’s VR headset because there just isn’t a reasonable price on these things currently. At this rate I’ll probably just craft my own and think negatively of how current day VR manufacturers are pricing their units.
This was the most honest review i’ve seen on this. The last one I watched felt like someone was just parroting company talking points so they could make money on affiliate sales (not that I have a problem with people making affiliate sales lol just do it honestly lol ). That said, I’m wary on several areas with this. REALLY don’t like the FOV even if it ultimately falls in the Quest 2 range as the quest 2 range sucks having used the Pico 4 for a while now lol. The “custom” to your face sounds nice (and probably feels amazing) but the resell-ability of this and the hoops to jump through to do so concern me. In a field where there is new just coming out and maybe you want to upgrade and some people sell their old to be able to afford the new, this could be a problem and finally, having been wireless for a while now, I REALLY don’t want to go back to wired. Yes, display port, that’s amazing but MAN! it sucks being tied down by a wire lmao 🙂 IF they developed an accessory to convert to wireless, that would be a great selling feature. Still have that FOV though….. lol All in all, this is the direction VR headsets need to go so its good to see companies taking it in that direction 🙂
Am I the only one that thinks that instead of making a VR headset BigScreen should be focusing on getting more 3D movies on their rental service. I mean the small selection they have is pretty good, but arguably the biggest 3D movie they have is Titanic. I’m still interested in it and if I had the money for it is buy it. I just love 3D movies a lot and wish they would add more 3D movies.
My Valve Index will get replaced…
