the only thing keeping me from dropping 2 grand on a full setup with this thing is passthrough, after testing using my quest as virtual displays for my computer, the next headset I buy needs to has good passthrough, If the bigscreen did, itd legitimately replace my monitor setup for productivity

1000 bucks for something with the field of view of a quest…. no just flat out no. I have the quest and I want an index but thought 1000 is alot for that experience. I mean it was good when it came out but there are so many thing out now with nice to have that the index dosnt like eye tracking it’s the whole reason why when I buy a new headset it’s going to be when the index 2 is finally launched. I don’t care if it’s oles and molded to your face I need that higher fov and support for wye and face tracking

If the FOV was noticeably better than my Quest 2 then I would seriously consider this headset. As it stands being wired only and a low FOV, hard pass for me. My ideal headset would be PCVR only with wireless capability with the battery behind the head for balance and it would have high res screens and high FOV. Hopefully something like that will come out this year. The Somnium VR1 looks big and heavy which I don’t like but it might end up being my next headset if its as good as it sounds.

I’m not sure how it is for others, but I think taking an affiliate link is a perfectly fine and valid thing to do for your supporters who want this to support you, so long as you emphasise that it would hold no influence on your review and thoughts.

You would think slimming it down taking out all the extra crap and extra stuff would make it cheaper but I get the custom making it more still think that’s way too much for what they’re offering

Yes. Finally a one trick pony that does things right.
But a working eye tracking would be nice for foveated rendering since this is a fairly high resolution.
This is one product I would be willing to spend money on.
Now I just need hoard some lol.

They NEED to make a pro version that has a very wide FOV. That would be the deciding factor for me.

I hope this product is successful, but I also hope it has good customer support and sustained long-term development, thing about the Index is that it actually has been a viable option for several years and has aged better than many of it’s contemporaries.

A friend gave me her old Oculus Rift just see if I like VR at all, and omg
Now that I know I love VR I think I’ll keep this headset in mind, it looks awesome!

Dude, It sounds almost perfect. Other than fov, I don’t really care about what’s missing as long as it has the best possible image. Might just be the perfect upgrade from my Reverb G2.
