Luckily I watched this video as I suddenly lost audio while playing, sure enough when I moved the adaptor to the front port, the problem was solved. And the little dongle was freaking hot from the exhaust hot air

Has anyone tried an HDMI extender lead to get the dongle away from the vents? Can anyone confirm it still works when using an extender lead?

for futher proection of the front usb dongle/port, you can use a swiveling usb adapter (google), which will let the dongle be adjustable thus save it self a form of kinetic force(angry wife)

Yeah … I thought the problem could have been the other way around …
I would recommend looking into your dongle to see if has a 4 pin (USB 2.0) or 9 pin (USB 3.x) connection
If it’s a 4 pin connecting it to the front would be the best option since this port is USB 2.0 … (you won’t waist your USB 3.x ports this way)
If it’s a 9 pin you might want to use a USB 3.x extension cable or a USB-C to USB-A 3.x adapter cable …
Also if you are using the dongle in the front and are afraid that it might potentially damage the dongle or PS5 I would recommend using a USB 2.0 (or 3.x) extension cable
I am unfortunately not sure if a USB hub would work for these kind of accessories … however I do know that external storage will not work that way

actually, the USB connector in the backside (the lower one) is damaged. Any devide dongle i put in that usb connector doesnt work.

I’ve never experienced any problems with my headset by putting the dongle in the back, but I still stopped putting it back there. One day I was moving the PlayStation and felt how hot the dongle was. Figured I’d try to avoid a potential problem. Thanks for the info, now I know it was for the best to move it. 👊
