What would you say are the best headphones for listening to heavy metal?
Great video, Josh. Just a little misunderstanding many reviewers do. Higher impedance headphones need more VOLTAGE, not power. The mobile devices drive typically low voltage output (1-2 Vrms) and it is not enough for high impedance low efficiency drives.
This was a banger of a video and still easy to follow for a kinda beginner like me.
My beloved Beyerdynamics that I have used pretty much every day since I got them in 2015 are sadly starting to wear out, so I’m considering getting a sweet upgrade pair
Tip to making videos: 1. Don’t make them long. 2. Don’t give an agenda just say what you have to say. It is a video not a meeting.

1000th!!!
Thanks for making this video. I was interested in the headphones you were mentioning, but when you say their names, could you put that text on screen so it’s seen? The subtitles aren’t perfect. Thanks
Only a fkn braindead idiot buys into the marketing bullsh#t that is ‘ headphones in the tens of thousands of $ ‘.
16:30 bro is saying that he feels like he doesn’t know anything.
Meanwhile me, not even knowing the meaning of Ohms before this video: *casually feeling extremely stupid*
what headphone would you recommend under $250? I was wondering why there was no mention of the popular ones like JBL , Sennheiser or Sony.
Ohm’s law: R = V / I
Resistance = Voltage divided by Amperage
Keep this in mind. More resistance = less current
What matters way more is sensitivity, and available VS required power per channel.
That’s what I believe in
Thank you for helping out us audio enthusiasts. As an expat living far from any hi-fi retail outlets I absolutely rely upon quality and intelligible product and systems reviews. Thanks for having Abyss on, just found my end-game headphones!
You had me at the ‘Pizza Factor” line, I said thats it I gotta push the like button.
Your remarkable effort to explain all details big and small about headphones in such simplified ways (pizza factor as an example) to very basic consumer like myself is a gift from God
So the least I could say is “thank you” for all the effort and time spent on this video
I wish to replace the headband on most headsets so I can use them under a helmet. the weight and feel is often an issue too.
maybe use a separate microphone.
Hi Joshua, Thanks for the detailed explanation regarding the technicalities, I loved the explanation, eventhough its not my cup of tea.
I was searching if XM4 or XM5 can be used for Video Editing as well, as I read they have equalising app for XM and Sennheiser Momentum 4 so I guess we would get original sound (without Bass) in both while editing. But still I found XM listed as a headphone that can be used for Audio Editing/ Video Editing and there was no mention of Momentum or Airpods Pro Max.
What is your verdict on Using a “wireless” Sony XM4 or XM5 OR Momentum 4 for video editing or using Sennheiser (wired) HD300 Pro or HD400 Pro or HD599 Special Edition?
Why are you in a parking garage?
Eric looks fresh out of college! How did he get to be the lead engineer at Abyss?!
Thank you for having levels for the different viewers who want more or less information and different price ranges as well
great video, when I see the level 1 or 2 what is the name of this sound is very nice . is it a sound effect
Hi! Im new to this, can anyone recommend a good headphones for someone that likes sharp details. Thanks a lot
