The best advice I can give to anyone starting this hobby:
1. Audiophiles exaggerate slightest changes
2. Be skeptical of those who overuse our terminology
3. There is no headphone that is the best at everything
4. Enjoy your time in budget & mid range budgets. Only go hi end once you’ve established your preferences
5. Diminishing returns is real after ~$500 and especially past ~$1500

Bruh. This ain’t for begginers. He’s just a show off. He’s not even talked about the chifi market. Iems also have good audiophile quality you know. This is the reason why nobody steps into the hobby. Because of people like him who say at leat a couple hundreds will get you something good when in reality 50 bucks can. Prove me wrong people!!!!

It was a good video until he told that everyone MUST lie to remain in the market. That tells everything about the datasheets credibility.

And the other thing which kicked up the riot was that the headphones are close to perfect, the amps, DACs and so on should be improved. Nah, that’s… Uhh… Anyways…
Electronics are already several magnitudes better than elektromechanical devices. Have anyone seen a seriously flat frequency response headphone or speaker? Because there are quite precise amps. And THD… While everone lies, khmmm-khmmm, the THDs are still way better in electronics. I know, this is not everything that determines the quality, and humans aren’t perfect at the end of the chain either, but if even these aren’t correct then what we are talking about?

That would be the same as saying, for example,
“it is perfect*.
(*compared to human ears)”
Ahhh, yeah, don’t care about that 6dB ripple in the <100Hz range, you know, humans are 100dB less sensitive there anyways.

Planars are BIG, HEAVY and could NEVER be the last word in the headphone apex.
Focal’s Utopia have not been surpassed yet! There light. Relatively wearable at length and are easy to drive.
Electrostatic headphones are still the peak holders in realism. Their light. Comfortable. Handsome and affordable as a high-end option.

Cool and detailed reviews! Think i watched every dac review and it’s getting harder and harder to decide 😅 I’m looking for a dac/amp combo neutral/flat as possible for mixing dawless setup so sonarworks or headphone calibration is not an option. With tight budget narrowed to the SX4 or LCD1 with a q5s, nx4, ha-4se, ifixcan. Thanks and regards from Barcelona

I don’t think your explanation on the need of amplifiers is correct. Even if you have a very sensitive but very high impedance headphone, maybe your phone won’t lack the power to run it but it will lack the voltage. High impedance means higher voltage for the same power transmission.

With an impedance of 600 Ohms and a power of 150mW (which seams reasonable for my phone), you’d need about 9.5V rms, which means about 13.4V peak to peak, which my phone definitely cannot give.
