This dude has me hooked on audio gear now. Dang my wife’s gonna hate me.
I have the SHP9500, should’ve waited around a little longer for the 600’s, but still..I think the 500’s do deserve a spot on the list of beginner headphones.
how do shp9600’s compare to shp9500’s? i was planning on getting the 9500’s on prime day but the 9600’s are not much more. i will be running these out of my laptop
Hi Josh, beginner here, if headphones say neodymium drivers, are they planar magnetic or dynamic?
I used for very long Sony V700DJ closed back ones. The best i wanted to afford these days and it was even a discount for about 70€.
Recently replaced by AKG K702. Damn, what a huge difference. But still the “noise canceling” of the closed Sonys is better for on the go plus the 702s nearly need a proper amp, my iPhone cant drive them well while the Sony V700 run at any output.
Sadly some other interesting open back headphones cost already 200$+, got the AKGs for 90€ which is i think a very fair price for “better” headphones. For 90€ the K702 sound incredible, but i never heard higher quality open back ones except long ago. I totally trusted in reviews as i got the 702s.
Im fine with the wired 702 AKGs as soon “audiophile”-grade bluetooth headsets are aviable. Actually none are sounding good, and also their high prices make them a NoGo in my opinion.
I like having good audio quality but i also like having money and those things don’t really mix well
I got my friends hd 600s because they weren’t
“Bassy” enough
Brand new,
nothing wrong with them
And that’s how I got into the audiophile hobby
Dude vid for audiophines is not for begginers tho. Every audiophile know bout what type of headphones they have are and speaker types.
I’m a huge fan of yours
Bro thank you so much for putting this video together. The way you explain things really takes the user on a journey and allows them to enjoy great audio much faster!
Ahh yes the companies suck their own…specifications
Thought this was unbox therapy
Mhm who got that audiophile money tho 😂😂
What’s the song at the very end of the video? Anyone know?
Great video btw, I loved the explanations and analogies of everything. I’m at the point where ‘gamer’ headsets are just absolutely unacceptable to me. I had a pair of Audio Technica ATH AD-900x’s for years, and recently switched to AKG K712 Pro’s. Had to get a Schiit Magni Heresy to drive them, but it’s been well worth.
So I got a budget of about $80-$140 and plan on using the headphone primarily for Gaming and Listening music. I plan on using it for at least 6 hour sessions, so it has to be quite comfortable.
I’m currently looking at the Philips SHP9600, because open back sounds quite appealing from what I’ve read.
Hey Josh, Just wanted to say how informative your videos are. I am happy with my current setup and am not looking to upgrade (Atom Stack, Focal Elegia’s, HD560S’s). That said, I still find myself drawn to your videos because of the way you present the chosen information. Thanks for the time you put into every one of your videos 😉
I had a chance to use $2000 open back Audeze with proper player and amplifier and i can’t hear how is that better than my $200 Bluetooth Sony headphones. It just lacks base and has annoying heights. Can I be so deaf ? 😀
You recorded 2 separate audio and video tracks during a videocall? I know how absurd it sounds but it’s the first time I’m seeing this. Nice
I don’t know much about headphones, so I took the plunge and bought the Sony WH-1000XM4s. I can confidently say that I feel ripped off. I use Tidal Premium, and I must say, that music doesn’t sound that good whatsoever.
they made a study here https://asa.scitation.org/doi/10.1121/1.4984044 where they discovered there is not correlation between expensive headphones and quality compared to cheaper headphones, cos frequency response at the end is the most important factor affecting the personal perception of quality of sound between listeners
