Great Job! First time watching your videos. Constant data and information, both technical and real world, with no slow boring segments, makes your videos well worth watching!
Excellent comparison. So, it really boils down to either the D500 if you need an action camera or the D7200 if you mainly shoot stationary scenes, leaving the D7500 sitting on the fence and being mainly for those who need an action camera but can’t afford a D500.
What is that computer that’s behind you?
Excellent video by the way. First time viewer, and I’ve already felt it necessary to subscribe.
Thanks a ton for the good videos Steve. You pack good solid info into all of them, I always feel you balance the information and pace of these without it going off on a tangent or getting dull. Solid, down to business presentations.
What would you choose between this and the Canon 80D?
I’m not saying this bc I’m happy owner of a D7200, but… 🙂 I have a Canon compact with a touchscreen, and while it makes focusing easier, it also makes you use the LCD all the time –> drains battery faster. Ofc, on the compact you have no other choice (no viewfinder), but I’d hate to use the LCD on my DSLR all the time. So, just for that, I wouldn’t swap my D7200 for a D7500. (The same way I have never found much use for the 2nd memory card slot on the D7200… 🙂 )
I don’t understand these extreme ISO limits. In all honesty, even at ISO 800 the image quality starts degrading (D7200), at least to my liking. I never shoot above ISO 400, no matter what. Gun to my head, I’d go as high as 800 but I know I wouldn’t be happy with the result. Anything above that has no use for me, and I wonder who’s comfortable shooting in, say, the 3200-12800 range. I’d easily trade an ISO 6400 capability for a noiseless ISO 800, tbh. ISO 51200 sounds ridiculous.
Great video btw, as always! And I’d totally buy the wildlife book if it was available in print… 🙂
Steve, you are a value to the community in ways you’ll probably never realize. Between the videos, online help you give on FM, E-books… It really means a lot to people.
Even after 30+ years in this Nikon game, I can always count on a ‘no frills’, honest, and ‘to the point’ outlook on what your speak on.
Thanks once again for great content.
Thank u so much for such an awesome review. you cleared all my confusion. Subscribed. also can u do a canon comparision video between the newly released 6d mark 2 and 80d ?
Another excellent video. Your videos are the best. So thankful you take the time to give us such great information. Keep up the great work.
I do like an articulating screen. I have a D5100 and my photo buddy has the Canon 80 D. The both of us like that screen. Also the vertical grip is important. Went to an air show. It was great . I shot a lot of pictures and the battery never seem to help. Great review Steve. Thanks. I would go after the D7200 or d 5600. Spend the savings on glass.
shit.
Yes! Buy a fast card. Slots for 1-2-3 cards are useless when you buy cheap Scandiscs and start shooting RAW. BTW, is that ISO-button damaged already on the D7500?
A GREAT review this is. I stick to my D7200 for now, just have it for 4 months now.
nikon D500 all the way👍👍
Man, what a good review and wish this would be the new standard for all of youtube on how to make a good review!
you have been payed by nikon for this review ?
An excellent review, thank you very much!
Thanks I really like this video. Was going to purchase d500 and 200 500 for birds and macro however this camera looks more like the better choice as I am no professional and this will still make nice images 👍 and decent frame rate and I like the touch screen for menus can’t believe the d500 lacks this
I love the D7500. I don’t know what all the haters are talking about. I bought it a month ago and shot some pretty good stuff.
