Hi Steve. Only ‘discovered’ your videos a couple of weeks back and this is another excellent one. I have a question if you have a minute. You mention the excellent dynamic range of the D7500 sensor. Does dynamic range mean the ability of the camera to RECORD the maximum level of detail such that it can be extracted as required by editing the RAWs or should that range be evident in the initial RAW itself?

Particularly in harsh lighting, I am finding that the shadows are very dark with or without the aid of auto D-Lighting. Strong sunlight on a landscape, is a prime example, where using matrix metering typically results in beautifully exposed skies but very dark trees. I can recover the shadow details in Capture NX-D (over a month on and Adobe still can’t handle the 7500!), but I’m wondering whether the 7500 should be balancing the highlights and shadows better in the first place? Am I missing a setting or could I have a duff 7500?

Hi Steve! Maybe I missed this information .. There is a DOF preview in Live View mode ,or not? Cause I still have doubts which model should I buy : 7200 or 7500. I like nature photography : wildlife and sometimes landscapes also. Unfortunately my budget does not allow me to buy D500..

Update. Ok..I read bellow comments and I saw info that DOF preview is missing.. So , still doubts which one will be better choice for me.

I’m not in the market for a new body, but I love your camera videos. I always seem to learn something. This time: I need to experiment with my highlight metering on my D750 (Nikon’s other redheaded step child ;). Love that you base your opinion on actual USE rather than a spec sheet review.

Steve , really good review , I’ve only needed to watch half of it to decide that this new 7500 is not for me ( I’m looking to replace my older D300 ) and your thoroughness in this review has led me to decide to go and look for your review on the D500 which looks like a more promising option for me ( if you’ve done one? ) / I’ll find out in a minute / Thanks for your service .
