which nikon body is the best?
Thanks for the great review Steve, thumbs up…
Another great review Steve!.. I was glad to hear that you might be doing a video on the Nikon Fine Tune feature. I am hoping you include how to use Fine Tune with a zoom lens.
great review
Not very neutral review to be fair. D7500 has many downsides. I still prefer the D7200.
Why can’t everybody reviewing cameras be as accurate, unbiased, clear, objective , pleasant and thorough like Steve? Mr. Steve Perry YOU NAILED IT ONCE AGAIN. A big fat thank you for your E-Books BTW, cannot recommend them highly enough. You sir are priceless. Well done, standing by for more and hope you go ahead with the auto fine tuning video. Glad that there are still serious people like Steve in Youtube providing solid info to people. Great job Steve and thanks again.
Wow as usual a great comprehensive review, oh and by the way I highly recommend the Secrets to wildlife photography, its great value and is a superb read.
Every video from you is a delight, man. Thanks and thumbs up!
I would consider the D7500 for wildlife. What did you find to be the highest iso you could use before noise becomes a problem.?
thanks to d7500, i switched to mirrorless…
The best review. I own the D7500 and it’s exactly a hyperfast superlight reliable general purpose camera. I’d even add that it doesn’t have the DX diffraction issues of the 24mp sensors and colors SOOC are amazing.
Excellent review, Steve! Very complete and well produced.
Thanks for another thorough and fantastic review! A bit off topic to address the following. Have you ever reviewed any third party lenses or gears? I’m interested to see you reviewing the new Sigma 500mm F4 DG HSM Sports and comparing head to head with Nikon’s latest counterpart.
great review. as a D7200 owner i would prefer to get D500 over D7500 as my 2nd body to combine with 200-500 for wildlife. i have a question though. is the sensor of D7200 iso invariant ?
Excellent review! However I still wonder if there is a reason to buy D7500 new when a used D500 costs only slightly more expensive.
Great review! I like how you’re not that picky(like many other similar reviews) and exagerated on things that really doesn’t matter like bottons size or sensibility or stuff that really does not affect the performance of the camera. There’s not perfect camera, it all depends of what you need it for and your budget.
With the DSLR camera market being what it is (in dire straits), I just can’t understand why Nikon would bother with a camera between the D7200 and D500. It’s kind of the same when I saw Canon flop out the 6D Mark II, which is a 3 year-old camera with a shiny new badge, basically. I just don’t really see that there’s a niche between the D7200 and D500. Hell, I haven’t seen anything compelling enough to get me to upgrade my D800 and D7100 cameras from Nikon and those cameras are ancient in technology terms, although I may strongly consider the D500 when the price drops to replace the D7100, but there’s no way in hell that I’d “upgrade” to the D7500, it just doesn’t make sense.
As always, the review is excellent and you put in a few tips and tricks, which is nice for new users, I really appreciate that you take the time to put these reviews out. 🙂
My brain hurts…….
Perfect timing just had a client ask about the=is camera. Sent him the link
I’ve watched every single review on the D7500, and yours is by far the most comprehensive and objective, AND from actual extensive use. Thank you Steve!
I’m one of the few who does not hate the D7500, and in fact picked one a week ago. I was coming from a D7000 and so far this D7500 beats the pants off the D7000 in every single way. The few features missing on it from the previous 7xxx series cams were not things I used much anyway, or at all.
In my experience one of the best improvements on the D7500 is the grip. The grip depth is mentioned in most reviews but only as a mildly potential plus. The grip on my D7000 was the only thing I hated about it, even worse than my previous D90. The D7500 grip allows me a firm and secure grasp of the camera.
I also frequently need to shoot at high ISO’s and again the D7500 is so much better at all aspects of image rendition in this regard than the D7000. All in all this D7500 is a much more enjoyable shooting experience than anything I’ve used before, both in handling and image quality, and I’ve been an enthusiast photographer for over 40 years.
