148 OPS+ & 172(!) ERA+. “Is he still in the MVP convo?” The gall of you! There were would be no question at all if MLB media weren’t downplaying his stats all season long and filling their site and TV shows with Judge.
There’s been a dedicated HR counter for Judge for months yet not a word about Ohtani qualifying as pitcher and hitter, playing two full MLB seasons. A truly historic feat that has never been achieved before. Sounds a lot more valuable that 6th place in total homeruns to me.

Reasons, I think Shohei is easily the MVP.

1. Take his plate appearances, add the batters he has faced, then look at his performance on them, and in terms of value no other player is higher.

2. If you asked most managers if they would want Judge or Ohtani on their team, I guarantee they would almost all say Ohtani.

3. The difference between Shohei and Aaron is 25-ish homeruns. Would you rather have a batter who hits 25 homeruns, or one of the best pitchers in the league?

If judge achieves triple crown then he will be MVP for sure. But if the MVP is for the batters and its stats, they shouldnt give ohtani a MVP last season. Now it is time to create some new award I guess.

its cool to see 61 bombs from judge but ohtani is doing amazing thing as both a pitcher and batter, clearly ohtani is more valuable. a record chaser vs a history in the works. ohtani is MVP for sure, the unicorn.

Ohtani with the greatest season ever will be robbed this year of the MVP. Judge’s season is only as impressive as Verlander’s but he will win because New Yorkers are Ohtani haters.
