too agree. Ohtani isn’t at his best. it has something to do with his wildness. comfort level. consistency. he has to be more able to align his entire body motion & mind prior to and during delivery of a pitch. i don’t know how the best of all time do it…but they do. hall of famers that hit spots consistently… an example of a pitcher who has that ability, is Hyun Jin Ryu, when he’s at his best. he’s hitting spots… or, Koji Uehara at his best… it has something to do with the subconscious mind…

Nice to see ward hit a homer but he is struggling at the plate. Othani is off at the plate too but cant argue that although he doesnt seem solid on the mound, cant argue with results.

Thanks Ben and Alex for doing such an amazing job highlighting how incredibly lucky we are to be witnessing Ohtani’s performance. One thing that has been bothering me since last season is the amount of time Nevin has been resting Trout on days Ohtani is on the mound. Last season Ohtani had 6-7 games where he gave up 2 runs or less and got the L or ND for his efforts. Trout said coming into the season he will do everything to try to convince Ohtani to stay, I guess nothing says I support you like I’m going to sit out on your pitching days. I know its not his decision, but I don’t understand the logic of resting the best bat in the lineup for your ace who had little run support going back to last season. I’ve seen other shows covering Angels baseball saying they think its a good idea, but I suspect these guys are really Angels fans, just talking heads.

Ohtani’s volume stats are down a bit because he got rained out one game but, per 9 innings he’s the best in the business.
Bob Gibson has the lowest season ERA (1.12) of any modern pitcher (past 115 years), but Ohtani could break that mark.
He’s still got three pitches that he’s barely used this year.
