I like both Judge and Ohtani. If the Yankees make it to the World Series then hands down the MVP is Judge. But, if they do not make it, than both Judge and Ohtani failed at getting their team there. 2nd place in the American League is just the first loser. You then have to go by the stats. And as remarkable as Judge is, and he is remarkable, Ohtani can do more. All around MVP!

How is the AL MVP not close? Shohei hits and pitches with the best in the game! And he’s less than .5 WAR behind Judge. Im60 homers is 60 homers but 34 HR plus 211 SO….cmon

At the end of the day, the mvp award isn’t the most important thing in the world. What’s most important is how Ohtani is regarded. As long as it’s widely recognized that he’s the most talented player, the best player, the greatest player, etc etc. that’s what matters

I guess pitchers these days are worthless in mlb. Take nothing into account how difficult it is to carry your team on your shoulders every time you step up on the mound to try to win a game. Let alone having to master all the different types of pitches and having to face numerous hitters through out the year. To be able to pitch and still hit at an elite level takes great discipline and dedication. Not a single mlb player can do what othani is doing. Yet it’s not even close. Must be harder to sit out in center field waiting for a fly ball than trying strike out the opposing batters, throwing 100+ pitches.

The test for Most “Valuable” Player is as if you were to have teams bid for Ohtani and Judge as free agents, who would have gotten a bigger contract. My money is on Ohtani getting a bigger contract than Judge for his impact on both pitching and batting and his marketability not only in the US but internationally. Judge is a better hitter. Ohtani is more valuable.
